Your Southeastern Michigan Dog Bite Laws

Victims of Michigan dog bites or dog attacks can be left with permanent scars and disfigurement, often causing emergency medical care. Michigan holds the owner of a dog strictly liable for dog bites to a human being that were not provoked, provided that if the incident happened upon the dog owner’s property the victim was not a trespasser or there to do something unlawful or criminal. Liability also can be based upon negligence, negligence per se and other grounds such as battery.  Michigan’s dog bite law states the victim injured by an attacking dog does have legal right to be compensated for the harm and injuries sustained during the attack.
