Settlement For Michigan Dog Bite Injury Lawsuit Filed By Relative
Our Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. attorneys recently settled a Michigan dog bite injury lawsuit that was filed by a woman who was attacked by her brother and sister-in-laws dog while visiting their house. The lawsuit was filed against her relatives homeowner’s insurance and settled for $67,500.00.
She suffered several injuries in the dog attack, including two bite holes near her left wrist, and two bite holes on the inside of her left arm above her elbow. In addition to the bite holes, she was also left with residual scarring. The bite holes were stitched at the local McLaren Lapeer Regional, however she had to return back to the clinic due to swelling of her arm. It was found that the swelling was due to infection and she was admitted for six days, including a procedure to clean out the dog bite holes.
At the time of the attack, the dog was caged in the basement. However, when our client was downstairs in the basement the dog began barking and acting aggressive in the cage. Due to the aggressive behavior, the front of the cage collapsed and the dog ran and attacked our client. Client’s eight year old son was also in the basement at the time of the attack, however he was able to run upstairs in time before being attacked as well.
