$ 40,000 Mt. Pleasant Dog Bite Settlement For Child

Our dog bite attorneys recently won a $ 40,000.00 settlement for a nine year old girl in an Isabella  County, Michigan lawsuit.  Our client was a guest at a friend’s house and was playing on the floor with her siblings.  Suddenly and unexpectedly, the family dog bit her in the face causing several puncture wounds.  She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and received stitches.

The bite left two small scars on her face.  She was treated by a plastic surgeon and the marks are now barely visible on her face.  She will not require any additional medical care and treats it with a non-prescription cream at night.  She has made a nice recovery from the attack.

We filed a lawsuit in the Isabella County Circuit Court in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  Numerous depositions were taken of the parties and other eyewitnesses.  The dog owner had homeowner’s insurance coverage agreed to pay a settlement of $ 40,000.00 before a jury trial.  The child’s funds will be placed in a structured settlement policy to use as a college fund beginning at age eighteen.

Battle Creek Dog Bite Settlement For FedEx Driver

Our Battle Creek dog bite lawyers recently settled a claim for a Federal Express driver.  The driver was making a delivery to a private residence and approached the front door.  As he walked up the front steps, a dog pushed open the screen door and bit him on his leg.

The attack was investigated by the Calhoun County Animal Control Department.  Our client suffered punctured wounds to his leg that required prompt medical treatment.  He was evaluated at a local clinic and given a tetanus shot.  The attack left him with two small bite marks on his leg.

On his behalf, we filed a claim against the dog owner for the personal injuries and medical expenses.  The homeowner’s insurance company for the dog owner agreed to pay a settlement for the pain and suffering and also to reimburse the medical expenses.  The case was settled without the filing of a lawsuit.

Medical Bills After Michigan Dog Bite Attack

Michigan dog bite and attacks often require medical treatment and even surgery.  Common injuries include facial scars, lacerations, puncture wounds and other injuries to the skin that require stitches and medical care.  Dog attacks also cause nerve damage, broken bones, and other serious injuries.  The cost of this medical treatment is significant and many times the dog bite victim does not have insurance to cover this treatment.

When a person bitten by a dog in Michigan incurs medical bills as a result of an attack, a claim can be made against the dog owner for payment of medical expenses.  If  the person attacked has health insurance but is responsible for c0-pays or prescription expenses, a claim can be made for those bills as well,  These are damages and compensation sought in a dog bite claim or lawsuit that are in addition for claims relating to the injuries suffered in from the dog bite.

Many times, the dog owner has home owner’s insurance to pay both the medical bills and a personal injury settlement.  Policies often contain a “med pay” provision which automatically pays a certain dollar amount towards medical bills.  This is usually at least $1,000.00 or more of a benefit.

If you or someone you care about suffered a dog bite injury in Michigan, you should contact our experienced lawyers today to start your claim.  We will get the Animal Control report or police report, your medical records, and start your claim against the owner or keeper of the dog.  We have a great track record of large settlements in Michigan dog bite cases.

Waterford Dog Bite Lawsuit Settlement

Our Michigan dog attack lawyers recently settled a claim for a 46-year-old woman who was knocked to the ground by a Rottweiler owned by a neighbor that attacked the Sheepdogs she was walking in her neighborhood.   The incident occurred in Waterford, Michigan.

The incident occurred as our client was walking her two Sheepdogs on the sidewalk in her neighborhood. During the walk, they passed by a dog owner who was standing in the street with her Rottweiler on a retractable leash.  The dog owner was standing next to an SUV talking to the woman inside.   As they passed by, the Rottweiler charged the Sheepdogs causing the leash to retract and in so doing knocked both a Sheepdog and our client to the ground.

The dog owner was aware that her dog and our client’s dogs have had encounters in the past and she was also aware that our client was walking her dogs down the sidewalk. Despite this knowledge, she  neglected to properly control her dog and lock the leash when our client came walking by. In this case, however, the story of the incident was disputed as both the dog owner and the woman in the SUV testified that our client was never knocked to the ground in the incident. Our client sustained leg pain and knee strain for which she attended multiple sessions of physical therapy and was prescribed medication.

We filed a lawsuit on her behalf seeking compensation against the dog owner for pain and suffering and medical expenses. Depositions were taken of the parties and medical records were exchanged.  The case proceeded to case  evaluation, and the evaluation panel award $15,000.00 on the case. Both parties accepted the case evaluation award and the case settled for same.

If you or a family member is bitten or attacked by a dog that was unrestrained, you should contact our Michigan dog bite lawyers as soon as possible at     800-606-1717 after the attack so that  we can explain your legal rights to you and begin our investigation of your claim.  We will represent you under our no fee promise, which means we do not charge any legal fees or costs until we win your settlement.
